First time repairing a microwave...always heard that it's the magnetron that goes first, and with a nearly $5,000(US) Kitchenaid oven, it was worth a try to swap out rather than replace.Original equipment providers wanted over $900. for the item, and other replacement options were as low as $39. yet they all looked mostly identical to me.Needles to say, I took a chance with this one. They delivered it in a fraction of the time they said it would take, happy for that! All in all, between pulling the mico-oven out of the wall, opening up the side with the magnetron, installing, reassembly, etc, it took about 2 hrs. I could do it all again in an hour or less now that I know what's what.Very happy with the purchase, hope it lasts another 10-20 years, if not...I do it again. Next time I will also test all the other components called for in the manual found while disassembling, like the capacitor, transformer, fuse, etc. These other parts can also cause the problem, and are less costly than the magnetron. One can easily test following the manual, and using a basic multimeter set on resistance/ohms.
