Anthony Stoneware is the pottery of Paul Anthony and Tim Jaqua who work from their studio in Western North Carolina using traditional techniques of wheel-throwing and slab construction. Not only do they mix their own glazes, but the pottery is fired in a gas-fired kiln which they designed and built. Please note that glaze colors and textures will vary. For this reason, while your piece will be in the color family you select, a match with the photos can't be guaranteed. These variations are what make each piece unique and confirm the artisan nature of the work.

I have another bacon mug and bought this one for my mother for Christmas. I thought the design was nicer and the hole at the bottom made it easier to drain the grease (mine doesn’t have that hole).HOWEVER… you can’t put as much bacon on this mug as on the one I have, because the grease overflows and gets everywhere! You can only do a couple slices at a time, maybe 3, whereas mine I could do 5-6 if it fits.A great idea in theory but does not work.Trying to fold the bacon strips so that they stay on the cup is both miserable and time consuming, along with trying to drape paper towels over it without them falling off, which they still do. Some bacon pieces still fall off and end up in the bottom where they do not cook like the rest. Grease in the bowl starts to splatter after 3 minutes of cooking. The only way to stop this would be to totally encase the bowl in paper towels, but then you could not be able to check on the doneness. Bacon pieces in grease also get caught under handle necessitating a bottle brush to fully clean it.First one arrived broken and a replacement was sent in 2 days. Packaging was so tight, I almost broke the second one getting it unwrapped. Cup is heavy and very nice, will keep it to use as a planter.Absolutely love this stoneware. It's beautiful and cooks our bacon perfectly, every time. It makes a mess in the microwave but at least it's contained to the microwave instead of all over the kitchen ;) We bought this because we have small children who love to run in the kitchen when we're cooking so to keep the splatter away from them, I grabbed one of these and it's perfect. This cooker cooks the bacon better than in the pan. Also, the bacon grease is collected and is purer and not burned the way it does in the pan. My mother loved this product so much after receiving it, she brought one for a Christmas present to all my siblings. My husband uses this every time he cooks bacon. He loves it for BLT, breakfast etc. Have had it two years now and it shows no signs of age. We use store bought bacon usually medium to thick cut. Never had any problems. Thinking about ordering another one for our cabin. I'm very surprised at negative customer reviews. The thicker the bacon the longer it takes to crisp up. Some bacon is messier than others and we need to drape a paper towel over the mug but that's not the mugs fault. Lots of stuff makes a mess of the microwave if you don't cover it. Bacon shrinks as it cooks so it ends up draping properly therefore cooking properly. Use it all the time and love it!Great to cook bacon and catching greaseBest.Amazon.Purchase.Ever. Heavy, handcrafted ceramic that microwaves bacon to a crisp. More than I wanted to spend but once I received I understood the quality behind the price. My husband is grateful because I am no longer using coffee mugs? This piece is beautiful but keeps breaking during shipment. I do not want to have another sent because they are to nice to just keep breaking them. It was suppose d to be a gift for my fiancé.
