It's Harvest Season! During this time of year, I have so many produce items, I don't have time to process them all. So, I often wash and freeze items now, to process later when I have time. One such items are tomatoes! I will wash and remove any green stems. Then I bag them up to place into the freezer until I can get to them to process. I often place them in gallon size plastic bags to store them. But gallon size bags don't hold many tomatoes. Then I found these bags! I can place a lot of tomatoes into one of these two-gallon bags. As these bags are heavy duty bags, they will hold a lot of tomatoes without splitting out along the side. The double locking top keeps the bag from popping open in the freezer and dumping loose tomatoes into the bottom of my chest freezer. Plus, these bags are so well designed that I can wash them out and use them again and again. This is a bonus for me as I go through a LOT of bags during this time. And a special note to any of you who can your tomatoes whole. Freezing and then thawing your ripe raw tomatoes give you another advantage besides letting you put off the processing until you have more time. Once your frozen tomatoes defrost, the skins split and slide off in one piece. Making it easy to can whole tomatoes without the process of blanching and peeling tomatoes. And if you don't can tomatoes, just slide your cleaned whole tomatoes back into these bags and freeze them again for a quick start to making homemade pasta sauce. These bags are very useful!
